CVB Releases Economic Impact of the Wilson County Fair

Lebanon, TN, (August 8, 2011) – Every August, Wilson County has the opportunity to shine as we welcome visitors to the Wilson County Fair. The 2010 fair was a success, with 397,075 attendees. This year’s fair is expected to bring an estimated impact of $5.5 million in travel-related expenditures to the local economy, according to findings released by the Wilson County Convention & Visitors Bureau.

“The Wilson County Fair provides the perfect setting for visitors to experience the heart and soul of our county – our culture, history, food, music and great people,” said Ricky Rodriguez, Director of the Wilson County Convention & Visitors Bureau.

This year’s fair is set for August 12-20, and is based around the theme, “Hats Off to the Wilson County Fair.” As always, the fair will feature nightly entertainment, rides, games, contests, agricultural shows, commercial exhibits and much, much more. Fiddlers Grove Historic Village offers living history demonstrations and allows visitors to experience what life was like during the turn of the century in Wilson County. The Village consists of original and replicated buildings such as a one-room schoolhouse, working blacksmith shop, doctor’s office, jail and grist mill, just to name a few.

The nine-day event will also feature a performance by national country recording artist John Anderson, and many others. Anderson has won awards throughout his career, including Country Music Association’s Horizon Award and a Grammy Award for Amazing Grace: A Country Salute to Gospel.

The Wilson County Fair has consistently been one of the largest county fairs in the region. A three-time winner of the "Champion of Champions" award, the fair was voted "Best Fair in the State" by readers of The Tennessee Electric Magazine and was selected as a “Top 20 Southeast Tourism Event” by the Southeast Tourism Society.
