Springtime Fun in Wilson County!

 

Lebanon, TN, (March 28, 2011) – The Wilson County Convention & Visitors Bureau is pleased to bring you sample highlights of upcoming events throughout April and May. From the one and only Mile-Long Yard Sale to rodeos, train rides, NASCAR and more, Wilson County is the place to be!

On April 9, the Mile-Long Yard Sale will transform Watertown into a mass marketplace. This event is expected to draw hundreds of exhibitors displaying items ranging from antiques, clothing, arts and crafts, and much more! For additional information call 615-237-1777.

If yard sales aren’t your cup of tea, check out the 2nd Saturday Celebration at Fiddlers Grove on April 9. Take a step back in time with demonstrations of life at the turn of the century beginning at 4 p.m. The theme is “Food and Fashion” – How things were made in Grandpa’s day. Featured buildings include Cook Hardware, A.C. Wharton Store, and the Barber Shop.  If you miss 2nd Saturday in April, be sure to come out on May 14 when the theme is “Going to Town” with a focus on services that brought people to town such as school, church, the post office and bank. Each 2nd Saturday Celebration wraps up with "Bluegrass in the Grove" at 6 p.m.

Kick-off spring with the Tennessee Central Railway’s Easter Bunny Train Trip to Watertown on April 16 and April 23! Kids will get a chance to visit with the Easter Bunny and go on an egg hunt while in Watertown. Tickets for the train sell out quickly, so get yours today! For more Easter fun head out to Charlie Daniels Park for Easter in the Park on Saturday, April 23. Over 50,000 eggs will be waiting starting at 10:30 a.m. Post-hunt activities include free food, over 15 inflatables, and a surprise visit from the man himself, Mr. Easter Bunny. Don't miss the second annual Whip Crackin' Rodeo on April 15-16, at the James E. Ward Agricultural Center under the lights of the arena. Join Lebanon Mayor Philip Craighead and Lone Star World Championship Rodeo for this fun and family-friendly charity event. The rodeo will begin at 7 p.m. nightly. Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door for adults. Children 12 and under are $8 in advance and $10 at the door. Advance tickets are available at the sponsors' locations. In addition to the rodeo, the weekend will also feature the Fiddlers Grove Spring Fest from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on April 16. Spring Fest includes a dumplin’ cook-off, antique car exhibit, live music, puppets, horseshoe pitching, blacksmiths, wood carvers and tours of historic Fiddlers Grove.
